Yoga is just not asana. Yoga is also yama, niyama, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, and samadhi. These are the eight limbs of yoga. Along with these eight limbs, Karma Yoga will help lead us down the path of self-realization.
Through practicing yoga, we become more aware of what is happening in our bodies. From there, we become more aware of what is happening around us, in our neighborhoods, our schools, our cities, state and in our country. We begin to see circumstances in which we feel we can make a difference. But sometimes we are not sure where to start.
Each month, Karma Yoga will offer opportunities for yogis to participate in various Karma projects. These projects will focus on selfless service to others. We will come together as a community, and join hands to do what we can, one by one. Please consider what you can offer to each of these projects. This may mean donation your time to a particular project or even just donating a needed supply to make it happen. Anything is appreciated- including ideas! Karma Yoga is a community. This means that each yogi has a voice, and a helping hand. Please voice your opinion on how to make existing projects more successful or ideas on future projects. There are so many opportunities to make a difference- speak up and help out!
Take your yoga off the mat and put it into action!
